Join Leeann Pennington, Amelia Williams and myself for this 3 hour mindfulness retreat! During our time together, Leeann Pennington, M.ed LPC and owner of Pennington Counseling Services will facilitate a discussion regarding stress hormones and how they impact our physical and mental health. Leeann will provide evidence-based facts about how our modern lifestyle is stealing our peace while also providing information on how mindfulness activities improve our overall well-being. By the end of the discussion, attendants will have a list of optimal approaches to combat major stressors, in order to live a peaceful, mindful life. Amelia Williams will provide you with the opportunity to learn how to meditate with a zen labyrinth board which makes establishing a daily meditation practice easy and fun. Amelia has been meditating daily since Nov. 2014. Her dad made the original labyrinth meditation boards. Now, she and one of her sons are carrying on his vision. The zen labyrinth boards are one way to improve your overall health and well-being. To conclude our time together, I will guide you through a deeply restorative yoga practice that will conclude with a guided practice known as Yoga Nidra(Yogic Sleep). Restorative yoga prioritizes deep relaxation and mindfulness. By consciously focusing on the breath and sensations in the body, practitioners cultivate present-moment awareness and develop a greater connection between the body and mind. Each step of a Yoga Nidra practice takes you deeper and deeper into your innermost layers of Self, including your subconscious. Beliefs are formed in the subconscious, and when we make changes at this level, we effectively create new belief patterns and ultimately experiences in our life. Please bring a notebook and some water. A light snack will be provided. Comfortable clothes are recommended, and since we will be on the floor much of the time, please bring a yoga mat if you have one!
In this special class, we are dropping the trapeze down a few inches off the ground for a restorative practice! No experience is necessary, just a desire to relax deeply and decompress the spine! This practice will conclude with a floating Yoga Nidra guided meditation.
